AdMeTech Foundation brought together Massachusetts Senate President Therese Murray, Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, Marathon icon and prostate cancer survivor, Bill Rodgers and Boston Mayor Martin Walsh, to lead the nation in recognizing prostate cancer as a public health priority and a major health care disparity.

Facilitated by MA Department of Public Health Commissioner Cheryl Bartlett and legendary ABC/WCVB anchorwoman Susan Wornick, the program also featured other key leaders of the Massachusetts state legislation, Boston City Council, government, advocacy, medicine, industry and the media.

Governor Patrick declared this event as “Massachusetts Prostate Cancer Awareness Day.” To express their support for prostate cancer awareness, eight candidates running to be the next Governor of the Commonwealth appeared together in “We All Agree,” a video produced by AdMeTech Foundation.

Recognizing AdMeTech’s leadership in making Massachusetts a model for national prostate cancer awareness, education, research and patient care, CEO Dr. Faina Shtern, was presented with a number of commendations, including a Governor’s Proclamation, the Massachusetts General Court Resolution, Mayoral Proclamation and City Council Resolution.

The press coverage broke historic records for any prostate cancer event in Massachusetts and included The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald, NECN, The State House News Service, NBC News 22, Boston City TV, Mass Live, WBUR and multiple other media outlets. Department of Public Health Commissioner Bartlett also dedicated a blog to the event.

The Annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Day at the State House, established by AdMeTech in 2009 and integrated with the AdMeTech-led ongoing advocacy campaign, has made a direct impact on the allocation of $500,000 for a statewide education program in FY15 budget. This program, supported by the Governor, State Senate and House is aimed at saving lives, improving quality of life and reducing health care costs. This allocation follows the creation of the $1.5 million AdMeTech-driven research program one year ago to improve early detection and treatment of prostate cancer, using high quality prostate MRI.
